LOCKSMITH SCAMMERS
The locksmith industry as we have historically known it is being decimated, and consumers are being fleeced at record rates by what is called "The Invasion of the Locksmith Scammers." Make no doubt about it, this is a nationwide epidemic.
Former legislative manager Tim McMullen, of Associated Locksmiths of America Task Force, was quoted as saying: "Of the 280,000 consumers that call a locksmith each day, 80% or 220,000 don't realize that they've called a "phony locksmith" until it’s too late.
We highly recommend you visit: http://www.FindALocksmith.com and immediately place the phone numbers of 1 or 2 reputable locksmith’s into their phone address book to have in an emergency situation and not get scammed.
The best possible advice to give consumers nationwide is "Find a locksmith you can trust NOW - lock their number in your family's phones under locksmith in case of emergency, because Google, Yahoo, 411, and those big yellow books are NOT your friends anymore.
A producer for ABC's 20/20 program in Phoenix looked into this problem for nearly a week. He did a Google search for "Locksmith Phoenix". He called out the first 10 "companies" that Google offered up to the public. His independent conclusion was that of the 10 he called out, only ONE was NOT a scammer. That means if you rely on Google to find a locksmith you run a 90% PROBABILITY of getting ripped off.
